Founded by Sam Gessow, Greener Pastures Studios is a fine art publisher specializing in small format intaglio/etching.
After finishing his undergraduate studies in 2008, Sam moved from Chicago to Los Angeles where he spent 5 years working at Edition Jacob Samuel (EJS) in Santa Monica, apprenticing and assisting Master Printer Jacob Samuel on numerous etching projects with contemporary artists from around the world, including but not limited to, Arturo Herrera, Charline von Heyl, Johnathan Lasker, Liza Lou, Tom Sachs, Jonas Wood, and Christopher Wool. Following his time at EJS, Sam continued to work for Jonas Wood, printing etchings for him over the years under his imprint WKS Editions in Los Angeles.
In 2020 he relocated to Maine and established Greener Pastures Studios, an intaglio/etching studio which prints and publishes editions from emerging and established artisits. The print shop currently occupies a small corner of a barn on a quiet country road in Unity, Maine. Greener Pastures Studios usually hosts visiting artists during the summer and fall months, which is strongly encouraged if you're the rustic type.
